Making an image on a white background!?

I'm very curious how people make white backgrounds, like this: or this: Because http://www.italiaspeed.com/2006/cars/other/zagato/04/575_gtz/303.jpg I'm pretty sure http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/resources/2008/03/Lamborghini_Gallardo_LP560.jpg not find a white room that way. Also, how make the shadows underneath? Can anyone tell me a software that could be used to do that on a Windows computer? Thanks

If it is a basic form, why not try to play around with PowerPoint 2007. You can get slide backgrounds, effects and shadows.
