Buying a used luxury car

The market

A real luxury car is something that has been designed to be exactly that – and nothing else. Not a 4×4 tarted up or MPV minivan. Supermini is not a smartened-up or rear window of the Family. Not even a car Executive or Executive Agreement. You can buy the deluxe versions of All these, of course – but that's not the main role of the vehicles were originally designed to meet.

A true large luxury car is different. Whether it's a Rolls Royce or a Daimler, BMW 7 Series or Mercedes S Class, Audi A8 or a Jaguar XJ8, no commitments on cost or function, equipment or design excellence. You are buying the best. What To search

Do not buy anything unless you know its history. Stay away from any car that has not been properly maintained – the potential bills simply not worth the risk, but look cheap. As expected, once it reaches this level, there is no cheap piece or low rates of service to make things right from the beginning. If you are buying from a franchised dealer (and some Sometimes even if you are), it is vital to get an independent AA or RAC inspection carried out. Find plenty of good care, after privately owned vehicles, of course – but their owners may be even more realistic in terms of selling prices, especially if it is something of prestige.

On the outside, alloy wheels look scratched or scraped (expensive to fix) and uneven front tire wear (tires cost a fortune and used particularly in Audi A8 quattro four-wheel drive models). Stone chips are common, but anything more it will cost, particularly in painted bumpers. Body panels are particularly high: out for damage caused by spouses Reverse Parking inattention.
