How does one learn how to work on cars?
I am going to be a Freshman in college next year, and I really like the idea of buying a used (perhaps slightly in need of work) nice car after I graduate. I am not exactly sure what yet…maybe a ‘Cuda, or even a beat up Ferrari.
Anyway, how would I learn how to fix everything that is likely to go wrong with it? I was talking to a guy I met at a car show who said he learned everything about how to fix his ’74 Dino from reading books (he does all the maintenance himself)…is that actually possible? I don’t have a relative you knows cars well enough to teach me, so how else do I learn?

Take an auto course in school, apply for a part-time job at an auto shop. You may start out mopping floors and cleaning up, but if you’re a good student, the other mechanics may teach you how to work on cars and you’ll move up in the company.
